Yongshun
Still in Yongshun. I need to hang about for a few days and this place seems like an alright place to do it.
I decided to go for a walk along the river.
I'd seen a pagoda on top of a nearby hill so thought I'd investigate. A mini expedition that cost me 48 RMB. It was some kind of temple area / grave yard / hotel and restaurant / police gathering / special shower.
I know that seems like a long list, but that's just what it was. There was about 40 police cars lined up down the road, obviously just finishing up at the restaurant. Police convention or something. Anyway. I turned right and went down to explored the river.
yet another mammoth bridge is being constructed. You can just make out the pulley system to get the concrete to the first pillar.
The whole of China is a construction site.
I heard some noises behind a wall and wandered what it was all about.
A man popped out and we had a chat.
He was a local monk from the top of the hill and he'd just had a shower. He explained that it wasn't river water but hot water. I had a feeling that it was sacred or more likely lucky water, as everyone seemed to know about it. Even a taxi driver on the way out asked me if I'd had a shower. Should have brought my towel.
I sat by the river and just stared at it. I haven't done that for a long time, and its something that I love doing. You mind drifts off, carried away with the current.
